Champagne house Charles Ellner
The History of Champagne House Charles Ellner
Champagne house Charles Ellner was founded in 1905 by Charles Emile Ellner. The winery is located in Epernay, France. It is a traditional family business where Jean-Pierre Ellner is currently at the helm, representing the fourth generation since its establishment.
Since its inception, the winery has grown into a champagne house with over 50 hectares of vineyards in the finest areas of the Champagne region. The vineyards are situated in 15 different areas in the Champagne region, scattered across the hills around the city of Epernay. Charles Ellner owns vineyards in Montagne de Reims, Côte des Blancs, and Valée de Marne. The Grand Cru and Premier Cru vineyards of Charles Ellner are notably found in Chouilly and Rilly la Montagne. The house produces approximately 1 million bottles of champagne annually, with over 70% of the grapes sourced from their own vines.
Charles Ellner Champagnes
The sparkling wines of Charles Ellner can be described as lively, refreshing, and refined. The champagnes are crafted with a significant proportion of Chardonnay and undergo extended aging of at least 4 years in stainless steel barrels. The house's reserve wines and vintage wines are fermented in oak wine barrels.
Champagne without Malolactic Fermentation
The vinification of the champagne takes place without malolactic fermentation. This authentic style imparts the champagne with the elegance and roundness that are characteristic of Charles Ellner.
