Champagne house Besserat de Bellefon
The 'Art de Vivre' of Besserat de Bellefon
Champagne house Besserat de Bellefon in Épernay was founded in 1843 by Edmond Besserat in Aÿ, under the name Besserat & Co, also known as Maison Besserat. In 1927, the winery adopted the name Besserat de Bellefon when Edmond Besserat married Yvonne de Méric de Bellefon. The winery is currently part of Lanson-BCC and owns 25 hectares of vineyards around Marne, primarily cultivating pinot meunier.
Liberty, Elegance, Simplicity
Throughout the years, the champagne brand became increasingly popular in the chic establishments of Paris. In artistic circles, including the Louvre, Musée d'Orsay, and upscale department stores like La Samaritaine, Besserat de Bellefon became the champagne brand of choice. Since 1989, Besserat de Bellefon has also been the champagne served at dinners and receptions at the Palais de l'Élysée, the official residence of the President of France. The motto "Liberté, élégance, Simplicité" stands for freedom, elegance, and simplicity.
BB Ambassador Brigitte Bardot
In the 1920s, champagne gained popularity in artistic circles, such as the famous cabarets Moulin Rouge and Crazy Horse. A few decades later, it became a symbol of the atmosphere of freedom and equality in Saint-Tropez during the sixties. The iconic actress Brigitte Bardot has associated her name with the champagne house, and the Cuvée Brigitte Bardot pays tribute to the French Art de Vivre that BB symbolizes.

The Besserat de Bellefon Collection
Besserat de Bellefon champagnes are characterized by a high proportion of Grands Crus and Premiers Crus from Avize, Bouzy, Chouilly, and Cramant. In the production process, a small quantity of liqueur de tirage is added, a liqueur with a base of yeast and sugar that initiates fermentation. The champagne is produced without malolactic fermentation and has a fine, silky, creamy mousse. The champagne brand is famous for its Cuvée des Moines, which are champagnes specially crafted to be enjoyed with culinary dishes and menus in very prestigious restaurants.
