What is Vintage Champagne?

Vintage champagne is exclusively made from grapes harvested in an exceptionally good wine year. Unlike regular champagnes that use grapes from multiple harvest years, the quality of the grapes from a specific harvest year gives each vintage champagne its unique character. Vintage champagnes, also known as Millésimé champagne, are produced in limited quantities and are always a Limited Edition. • Vintage Champagnes 2004
  Extreme drought in 2003 and little rainfall in the spring of 2004 resulted in a low groundwater level. August was wet, cool, and ended with sunshine. This promoted grape ripening and improved sugar concentration. The ideal weather conditions resulted in an exceptionally good harvest year for special vintage champagnes.
• Vintage Champagnes 2006
  In 2006, there were some dry and sunny months. June and July saw beautiful blossoms, followed by ripening grapes. August brought rain, increasing moisture levels. September provided warmth and sunshine, resulting in a fantastic harvest for champagne producers.
• Vintage Champagnes 2008
  The harvest year 2008 was characterized by a cold and rough start. Cold temperatures caused frost damage, but fortunately, May became warmer, allowing blooming to continue. August then cooled slightly, resulting in perfect grape health during the harvest. Each vintage champagne from 2008 has a unique character due to the expression of weather conditions.
• Vintage Champagnes 2009

  Champagne from the outstanding harvest year 2010. 2010 was marked by a winter with extremely heavy rain and an extremely dry autumn with tropical temperatures, slowing down the grape ripening process. The grape harvest had to be delayed, but eventually took place under ideal conditions.
• Vintage Champagnes 2012
  The harvest year 2012 was exceptionally unique. After a very cold winter, spring started late with lots of rain and even hail, which was disastrous for the harvest. After spring came a very warm and dry summer. All in all, 2012 was one of the best wine years.
• Multi-Vintage Champagnes
  Multi-Vintage champagne is made from grapes from different wine years. Armand de Brignac champagnes are Multi-Vintage. Like the Armand de Brignac Brut Gold Ace of Spades, a champagne with a blend of the three wine years 2009, 2010, and 2012.
